This is the story of Storm-Boy and his father, Hide-Away Tom, who live in the strange wilderness area of South Australia known as the Coorong.

Storm-Boy and Hide-Away Tom live in a driftwood shack in the sandhills between the roaring surf of the Southern Ocean and the Coorong: the lonely, narrow stretch of water that runs parallel to a long reach of the South Australian coast.
